Grants
The Georgetown Island Education Foundation (GIEF) supports lifelong learning opportunities through three distinct programs:
Together, these funding streams strengthen educational experiences from early childhood through adulthood.
Block Grants
Our primary area of focus is the GIEF Block Grant Program, which provides targeted support to Georgetown Central School (GCS). These grants are designed to enrich learning for all students in Pre-K through 6th grade by funding innovative programs, experiences, and opportunities that extend beyond the school’s operating budget. Rather than supplementing existing school funding, GIEF Block Grants make possible enhanced educational experiences that would not otherwise be available. Learn more about the GCS Block Grant Program (link HERE).
Individual Grants
Our second area of focus is the Individual Learning Grant Program, which empowers Georgetown learners to pursue unique educational interests and growth opportunities. GIEF currently offers three individual learning grant opportunities serving different age groups and learning goals: the Summer Discovery Grant, the Middle School Freedom Tour Grant, and two high school programs — the Mentored Learning Grant and the Student Initiative Grant. These grants support both guided and self-directed learning experiences that inspire curiosity, independence, and personal growth. Learn more and apply (HERE).
Scholarships
Our third area of focus is the Future Pathways scholarship awarded in partnership with the Georgetown Working League (GWL) for post-secondary learning. This scholarship supports Georgetown all residents pursuing accredited continued education and training after high school and are awarded each spring through the GWL application process.
